Where to stand for the ships, the fireworks, and the unforgettable Grande Parade — from the Rouen quays to the quiet villages downstream.
For most of the event, the action is the moored fleet along the Rouen quays, on both banks of the Seine. Walk the whole stretch — it's several kilometres — and you'll get up close to every ship. Go early in the day for the best light and the smallest crowds, and again after dark for the illuminated rigging and the nightly fireworks.
On the closing Sunday, every ship sails downstream toward the sea. You can watch from Rouen, but the parade is long and slow — heading downstream to a riverside village often means a calmer spot and a closer, longer view as the ships pass.

The romantic abbey ruins sit in a dramatic loop of the Seine — a memorable backdrop as the tall ships glide past. Quieter than the city, and stunning.
